TL;DR

What you will do

  • Design and integrate mechanical solutions for sensors and compute systems across vehicle platforms.
  • Take concepts through prototyping, validation, manufacture, and installation while managing performance, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability trade-offs.
  • Develop HiLs, test rigs, jigs, and fixtures for hardware validation and integration.
  • Create 2D drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and GD&T specifications.
  • Work with supply chain, suppliers, electronics engineers, Fleet teams, and field teams to source, manufacture, install, and scale hardware solutions.
  • Prepare build instructions, inspection checklists, and safety and quality documentation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical or design engineering, supported by a relevant portfolio.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including master model development and multi-part assemblies; SolidWorks PDM is advantageous.
  • Experience with sheet metal, machining, vacuum casting, 3D printing, and design for manufacture.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building test jigs, rigs, and fixtures in a workshop environment.
  • Strong 2D drawing, assembly, BOM management, and GD&T skills.
  • Experience with risk assessment methods such as FMEA and DFMEA.

Nice to have

  • Surface modelling experience.
  • Familiarity with aluminium extrusion-based builds.
  • Understanding of electronic systems, harness development, and compute selection.
  • Hands-on FDM printing experience.
