TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor): Designing and releasing mechanical components and structural, thermal, and pneumatic systems for semiconductor wafer-processing equipment with an accent on vacuum environments, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance. Focus on developing designs from concept to product release, building and testing prototypes, producing engineering documentation, and leading small multidisciplinary projects.
Location: Newport, United Kingdom; based in the Newport factory. The role may involve a small amount of international travel.

's SPTS division designs, manufactures, and markets wafer-processing solutions for the semiconductor and related high-technology industries.
What you will do
- Lead mechanical design projects from concept through product release.
- Design structural, mechanical, thermal, pneumatic, and vacuum-compatible components for semiconductor processing equipment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on equipment design and system integration.
- Produce engineering reports, drawings, procedures, and service bulletins to meet regulatory requirements.
- Support manufacturing, commodity, and NPL departments, including supplier contact, bill-of-material cost control, and prototype testing.
- Lead small projects from concept to implementation and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in a development and design environment.
- Essential: 3D CAD experience with Solid Edge or a similar system.
- Essential: design experience for CNC machining and fabrication.
- Experience with FEA tools and excellent knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong communication, prioritization, autonomy, teamwork, and IT skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Nice to have
- Experience in the semiconductor or high-technology industry.
- Experience with ERP, PLM, or PDM systems.
- Experience with P&ID documentation and CE/SEMI or equivalent compliance requirements.
- Exposure to electrical engineering or other engineering disciplines.
