TL;DR
Sr. Coordinator of Fitness (Fitness Programming): Leading and operating group fitness and personal training programs within a university Campus Recreation department with an accent on staff development, program growth, and safe service delivery. Focus on supervising instructors and trainers, developing participation and retention strategies, managing equipment and budgets, and coordinating holistic wellness programming.

Location: hirify.global, Bozeman, Montana; onsite role with Monday-Friday work, occasional nights and weekends, and on- and off-campus events.

Salary: $57,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

hirify.global’s Student Wellness division provides health, wellbeing, counseling, and Campus Recreation services for students and the MSU community.

What you will do

  • Lead day-to-day operations for group fitness and personal training programs.
  • Recruit, hire, schedule, train, mentor, evaluate, and support instructors, personal trainers, student employees, graduate assistants, and part-time contractors.
  • Develop strategies for program participation, revenue generation, client recruitment, and retention.
  • Coordinate certification courses, deliver fitness programs, teach group classes, and provide personal training.
  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance, troubleshooting, safety, security, and risk mitigation systems.
  • Track program participation, assessment results, finances, purchasing, and collaboration with university wellness and academic partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, recreation, health promotion, education, sports management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • NCCA-accredited fitness certification.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and campus events.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, communication, organization, conflict-resolution, and administrative skills.
  • This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health promotion, higher education, sports management, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising and developing student staff.
  • Professional-level fitness programming and development experience.
  • Professional involvement with organizations such as NIRSA, NASM, or ACE.
