HyCO Plant Process Engineer (Hydrogen)

Location: Martinez, California, United States; occasional support for HyCO facilities in California, the western region of North America, the United States, and Canada. Some travel is required, estimated at 10%.

Salary: $110,050–$145,500 per year, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Provide plant process engineering support for two large-scale hydrogen plants and monitor efficiency, reliability, and operating performance.
• Identify and troubleshoot operating, equipment, corrosion, steam quality, fouling, catalyst degradation, and other chronic performance issues.
• Support plant safety, health, environmental compliance, management of change procedures, hazard reviews, safety programs, and training.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement productivity projects improving reliability, efficiency, costs, and capacity.
• Prepare for and support hydrogen plant turnarounds, including project execution, catalyst changeouts, and inspection findings.
• Provide process engineering support to other HyCO facilities across the United States and Canada as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred; other disciplines may be considered based on experience.
• 3–5 years of engineering experience, with operations engineering, operations support, and troubleshooting experience beneficial.
• Understanding of process controls, process safety, and equipment or plant design.
• Ability to balance operability, reliability, capital costs, and operating costs when making safety-related decisions.
• Experience with Aspen Plus and Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, preferred.
• Ability to work at the Martinez, California plant location and travel approximately 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale hydrogen or syngas production and other high-temperature process gas facilities.
