Process Engineer (Chemical Engineering)

Location: Remote, based in Houston, TX, US; travel may reach 50% or more depending on project needs.

What you will do

• Provide process engineering expertise for resin and formaldehyde production, including capacity, reliability, and efficiency improvements.
• Review chemical process designs, recipes, calculations, codes, specifications, and recognized engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot existing chemical operations and provide written technical recommendations for production deviations.
• Participate in and lead PHA, HAZOP, commissioning, startup, PSSR, and MOC activities.
• Model relief systems and advise project teams and third-party engineering firms on process design and scope changes.
• Develop business cases, design standards, operating guidance, and training for operations teams.

Requirements

• BS degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant chemical process experience, including work on a chemical plant floor.
• Experience with resin production, batch manufacturing, solid material handling, and equipment design.
• Knowledge of process safety, environmental and industrial hygiene regulations, relief system modelling, Fault Trees, FMEA, QRA, and LOPA.
• Experience with project management and front-end loading, including Stage Gate processes and Front End Engineering efforts.
• Advanced Excel and computer skills, intermediate PowerPoint skills, and the ability to collect and interpret data.

Nice to have

• Experience with Minitab.
• Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Project.
