What you will do

• Co-teach and create an engaging, joyful classroom environment that supports academic mastery and discussion.
• Teach mathematics, reading, writing, ELA, science, and social studies to elementary students.
• Build students’ literacy skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Analyze student work and assessment data with principals and instructional coaches, then differentiate instruction.
• Build positive relationships with students and families and support school routines, assemblies, transitions, and dismissal.
• Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and participate in professional development, mentoring, coaching, and school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in elementary education, humanities, English, social sciences, or a related field.
• Commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development and to working with families.
• Interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Teachers without an education degree must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment.
• New York State certification eligibility is required, and certification must be obtained within a reasonable period after starting employment.
