Self-Contained Special Education Teacher (MS)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee, USA. On-site teaching role at KIPP Nashville College Prep Middle School.

Salary: USD 56,171–100,974 per year, depending on degree and experience. BA scale: USD 56,171–92,170; MA+ scale: USD 61,909–100,974.

What you will do

• Plan and deliver instruction, activities, and learning materials adapted to individual student needs and learning styles.
• Monitor student progress, analyze results, and adjust instructional strategies and programming.
• Provide daily academic and character feedback while supporting individual learning needs.
• Build a positive, calm, and values-based classroom culture and maintain positive relationships with students.
• Communicate with families about student progress and participate in conferences, open houses, and school events.
• Collaborate with school staff and participate in professional development, including summer and weekly training.

Requirements

• Valid Tennessee teaching license or proof of enrollment in a job-embedded Educator Preparation Program.
• Conferred bachelor’s degree.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Strong pedagogy, data-driven instructional practice, and commitment to continued professional development.
• Ability to collaborate and problem-solve with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Nice to have

• At least two years of teaching experience.
• Experience teaching students from educationally under-resourced communities.
• Commitment to working with students from educationally under-resourced communities.
