Software/Firmware Engineer (SerDes)

Location: Fort Collins, Colorado, USA — onsite at 4380 Ziegler Road

Annual base salary: USD 109,700–175,500

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain firmware and software for high-speed serial communication and data conversion IPs.
• Refactor and modernize legacy software infrastructure for next-generation hardware and system requirements.
• Develop regression test suites using tools such as gtest.
• Debug firmware and software on hardware platforms using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and RTL Verilog simulations.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Linux, and bash, and administer local compute clusters.
• Optimize and document software, resolve field-deployed system issues, and support customer-focused debugging.

Requirements

• BSEE with 8+ years, MSEE with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills, including threading, network programming, and system-level software development.
• Full-lifecycle firmware/software development experience, including software refactoring and regression test maintenance.
• Experience with Linux system programming, kernel modules or drivers, bash scripting, Jenkins CI/CD workflows, and Linux administration.
• Knowledge of high-speed SerDes and related protocols.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, documentation, and complex issue-resolution skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SPI, TWI, UART, or USB interfaces.
• Python or shell scripting for automation and test equipment control.
• Experience with Git, Jira, lab equipment, RTL simulations, and hardware-software tradeoffs.
• Leadership potential and experience mentoring others.
