Associate General Counsel, Product (Healthcare Technology)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid with three days in-office per week

Annual salary: $316,000–$474,000, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Serve as a primary legal advisor to Product, Engineering, Clinical, Privacy, Compliance, Commercial, and executive teams.
• Advise on product strategy, design, testing, launch, commercialization, marketing, and post-launch changes.
• Provide practical guidance on HIPAA, healthcare privacy, data use and sharing, clinical workflows, FDA requirements, and emerging technologies.
• Support medical-entity governance, corporate practice of medicine, friendly-PC/MSO-PC structures, and related intercompany arrangements.
• Advise on international launches, GDPR, cross-border data flows, Medicare, Medicaid, VA channels, billing, credentialing, and federal contracting.
• Build scalable playbooks, templates, training, and decision frameworks while mentoring Legal team members.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 8+ years of legal counseling experience, including significant in-house or embedded client-counseling experience.
• Experience counseling on healthcare products or services, product lifecycle issues, healthcare privacy, and HIPAA.
• Experience with FDA regulations, corporate practice of medicine, medical-entity governance, and friendly-PC or MSO-PC structures.
• Direct people-management experience leading, mentoring, and developing legal professionals.
• Ability to work in the San Francisco hybrid environment three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in digital health, health technology, or employer-sponsored health-plan businesses.
• Experience advising on AI-enabled products, medical devices, clinical technology, or other emerging healthcare technologies.
