Lead Mechanical Engineer

What you will do

• Lead assembly, plastic and metal part design, component specification, tolerance studies, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Perform thermal, mechanical shock, and vibration analysis and improve existing products.
• Direct engineers and technicians while coordinating activities with Purchasing and Manufacturing.
• Execute high-complexity hardware projects, maintain bills of material, and prepare labor and material estimates.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, documentation, and manufacturing process designs.
• Write test plans, conduct design validation tests, review results, and maintain project notebooks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 6+ years of experience with computer-aided design and electronic manufacturing techniques; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Technical expertise in at least two areas including heat transfer and electronics cooling, materials and fabrication, design for manufacturability, mechanics, or electromechanical packaging.
• Working knowledge of project management processes, demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills, and strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively, learn new skills, and assume new responsibilities.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results required.

Nice to have

• Automated Test Equipment, factory automation, or product-level automated test experience.
• ICT bed-of-nails fixture design and 19-inch server rack mechanical layout experience.
• Structural finite element analysis using Ansys Mechanical or computational fluid dynamics using Ansys Icepak.
• Experience applying DFMA principles and designing plastic injection-molded parts.
