(Senior) Kotlin / Java Software Engineer - Trading Platform

Location: Munich, Germany. International relocation support is provided if required; opportunity to work from abroad.

What you will do

• Build and operate business-critical services for the trading lifecycle, from order intake and validation through execution, status updates, and post-trade processing.
• Develop scalable, reliable, and observable backend services with Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot in a distributed, event-driven environment.
• Design integrations with internal platforms and external trading venues for time-sensitive financial data processing.
• Translate complex trading processes into resilient software models and APIs with product, operations, risk, and engineering stakeholders.
• Own services from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Improve reliability, automation, observability, developer experience, and operational processes.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience building production backend services with Kotlin or Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven, highly available systems with clear API and service boundaries.
• Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design and complex business workflow modeling.
• Experience with latency-sensitive, high-throughput systems, performance analysis, monitoring, capacity planning, and failure-mode design.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with cloud-native development and operations, ideally AWS, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial-market systems requiring strict operational controls and auditability.
• University degree in computer science, engineering, or a comparable qualification.
