TL;DR
Principal CAP & BTP Cloud Native Engineer (SAP CAP/SAP BTP): Designing and building cloud-native backend services for banking and development bank solutions with an accent on CAP, BTP services, SAP integration, and production-ready architecture. Focus on owning end-to-end modules, integrating S/4HANA and RAP, building CI/CD pipelines, and mentoring engineers while maintaining high standards for security, testing, and delivery.
Location: Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany; hybrid workplace with high travel readiness within DACH.

What you will do
- Design, build, and run CAP services with Node.js and/or Java on SAP BTP.
- Own backend modules from domain modeling and initial design through production delivery.
- Develop clean, testable architectures using domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, and CQRS where appropriate.
- Integrate services with S/4HANA, RAP business objects, and external APIs through Destination Service and Cloud Connector.
- Build CI/CD pipelines, manage MTAR and Cloud Foundry deployments, and maintain environment separation.
- Lead technical standards, conduct code reviews, document architecture decisions, and mentor developers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of productive CAP and SAP BTP work.
- Strong Node.js or Java, CDS, OData V4, and backend integration knowledge of Fiori Elements and SAPUI5.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Foundry, MTAR deployments, XSUAA, Destination, Connectivity, Event Mesh, and HANA Cloud.
- Experience with RAP, ABAP Cloud, SAP Integration Suite, BTP ABAP Environment, API design, versioning, security, and GDPR by design.
- Confident use of Git, trunk-based workflows, pull requests, automated testing, and modern engineering tools.
- Fluent English and German at least at C1 level are required.
Nice to have
- Experience in banking, development banks, or insurance.
- ABAP Cloud and RAP experience at steel-thread level or above.
- Experience with Kyma, Kubernetes, or other cloud-native runtimes.
- Open-source contributions, technical publications, conference talks, or observability experience with SonarQube, OpenTelemetry, or Dynatrace.
