Software Tools Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship and export-license sponsorship are not available.

What you will do

• Develop desktop software tools for graphical configuration and tuning of integrated circuits.
• Build customer-facing graphical tools and command-line utilities with applications, systems, and firmware engineers.
• Gather requirements, estimate work, plan projects, and decompose requirements into actionable stories and tasks.
• Improve development processes with a focus on software quality, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with internal and external users and contribute to team development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 6+ years of object-oriented software development experience supporting enterprise-level software.
• Expert proficiency in Java, C++, C#, or a similar statically typed programming language.
• Hands-on experience developing and testing embedded systems and complex desktop or mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of multithreaded and multiprocess systems, including interprocess communication.
• Familiarity with Python, Ruby, or similar scripting languages, plus interest in microcontrollers and digital signal processing.
• U.S. work authorization for any employer is required; employment visa and export-license sponsorship are unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaFX, Swing, XAML/.NET, Qt, or similar UI frameworks.
• Experience with Gradle or Maven for build automation and dependency management.
• Familiarity with I2C or SPI serial communication protocols.
• Strong interest in audio and embedded systems.
