Process Operator (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Suffolk, Virginia, United States of America; onsite, rotating 3-on/3-off day and night shifts of 12 hours

Salary: $47,950–$70,323 per year, plus discretionary bonuses. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is paid after 90 days of successful employment.

What you will do

• Operate process equipment and chemical production plants according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitor processes, adjust control parameters, and maintain First Pass Quality standards.
• Perform safe chemical charges and maintain required production, shift-turnover, and process documentation.
• Maintain supplies and raw materials in the assigned process area.
• Operate forklifts, hoists, cleaning equipment, and other plant equipment while maintaining housekeeping standards.
• Support operator training and provide Lead Technician coverage when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training is preferred.
• Proficient written and spoken English required.
• At least two years of manufacturing experience; chemical-handling experience is preferred.
• Ability to use computer-operated systems and programs and follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50–55 pounds, climb stairs or ladders frequently, walk extensively, bend, and operate forklifts.
• Ability to pass a pulmonary function test and work clean-shaven while wearing a negative-pressure respirator.
