Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid working with 1 day per week in the Shoreditch, London office

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery for the dominAI product, translating product goals into executable plans and reliable commitments.
• Line-manage a multidisciplinary engineering team through clear expectations, feedback, performance conversations, and development support.
• Build and shape one of the growing dominAI sub-teams, including hiring and developing future technical leaders.
• Partner with Product and technical leadership on priorities, scope, timelines, architecture, and technical investment.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase and contribute delivery work when needed.
• Bring customer and business context from Product, Field Engineering, and senior stakeholders into team decisions.

Requirements

• Experience leading and line-managing a software engineering team.
• Experience building and shipping web applications and remaining effective in a codebase.
• Experience leading AI/ML engineers and integrating research-oriented work into agile software delivery.
• Strong partnership with Product, including shaping priorities and challenging scope.
• Experience handling underperformance, conflict, ambiguity, and difficult stakeholder conversations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Vetted status at least to SC level.

Nice to have

• Experience growing a team through hiring, team design, and developing people into senior roles.
• Experience with data-intensive, real-time, distributed, or mission-critical products.
• Background in defence, military modelling and simulation, C2 systems, or another regulated and security-conscious environment.
• Experience building Engineering Manager and technical lead partnerships or mentoring managers.
• Willingness to travel to deployments, hackathons, and industry events.
