Staff Product Manager - Payments (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; New York, NY or Century City, CA

Salary: $270,000–$325,000 USD gross annual base pay, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end payments and checkout product, improving buyer pipeline completion, authorization rates, conversion, and reliability.
• Lead integrations with international payment methods and providers, balancing local market requirements with global standardization.
• Design payment routing, merchant descriptors, issuer-facing optimizations, and adaptive authorization and fraud systems.
• Partner with engineering, data science, risk, operations, accounting, finance, and legal to deliver payment initiatives from concept through launch.
• Evaluate vendors and internal capabilities, making build-versus-buy decisions and negotiating payment provider agreements.
• Manage and mentor a product manager while remaining hands-on in payments strategy and execution.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product management experience, including significant experience in payments, fintech, fraud technology, or adjacent financial systems.
• Strong technical and analytical fluency with payments data and complex system flows.
• Experience integrating payment methods, processors, and fraud tools, including vendor evaluation and system design.
• Ability to set direction and execute independently in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Systems-level understanding of checkout experiences, authorization logic, risk controls, and global payment ecosystems.
• Strong cross-functional leadership experience with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams.
