R&D Optical Product Ramp Engineer (Optical Hardware)

What you will do

• Improve product yield and support the manufacturing ramp and sustaining activities for WaveLogic optical modems.
• Perform hands-on hardware and optical debug of failed modules, identify root causes, and validate corrective actions.
• Analyze large-scale manufacturing and test data, including trends, outliers, and failure modes.
• Plan, coordinate, validate, and release design, test, and process change orders.
• Collaborate with hardware, optical, firmware, test, reliability, manufacturing, operations, and supplier-facing teams.
• Document analysis, debug findings, validation results, recommendations, and change plans for technical and program stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent field.
• 2–5 years of experience in hardware, electrical, optical, telecommunications, networking, manufacturing test, or a complex electronic-product environment.
• Understanding of product lifecycle stages, including development, qualification, ramp, volume manufacturing, sustaining, and field support.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis methods such as histograms, Q-Q plots, standard deviation, process capability, Cp, and Cpk.
• Experience with Python or MATLAB for data analysis, automation, or engineering debug.
• Ability to work hands-on in a lab and interpret electrical, optical, manufacturing, or system-level test results.

Nice to have

• Experience with prototyping, embedded hardware, hardware bring-up, or lab-based debug projects.
• Familiarity with coherent optical transceivers, optical modems, DSP-based systems, or high-speed communications hardware.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing, manufacturing test flows, factory yield analysis, or production data systems.
• Experience with optical or electrical test equipment, automated test platforms, reliability qualification testing, failure analysis, or root-cause corrective action.
