Senior Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Belfast, United Kingdom — hybrid

Salary: £57,000–£74,000 per year, plus equity and bonus opportunities

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Go.
• Contribute to the transition toward microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Improve database performance, data structures, and real-time data movement across the platform.
• Automate operational workflows to simplify service deployment and access for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business and user needs.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on software development experience, including at least 2 years with strongly typed languages such as Go, Java, or C#.
• Experience designing and developing microservices in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong ability to write maintainable, robust, and high-quality code with a pragmatic problem-solving approach.
• Experience with SQL databases, message queues such as Kafka or SQS, and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, basic networking, and Agile or Kanban methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical designs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
