Software Engineer - Egress (Go/Rust)

Location: Hybrid, with available locations in Austin, US; Lisbon, Portugal; or London, UK

Salary: €54,000–€75,000 annual salary for Portugal-based hires

What you will do

• Design, document, implement, test, release, and monitor network software infrastructure for egress connectivity.
• Build capabilities used by hirify.global products including WARP and the egress proxy for iCloud Private Relay.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Network Engineering, and SRE teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
• Investigate escalated customer issues and support technical questions from internal teams.
• Participate in production on-call rotations and take responsibility for system reliability.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, production systems, and datasets and accelerate problem-solving.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of complex, distributed, production-critical systems.
• Programming experience in Go or Rust, with an interest in developing skills in both.
• Knowledge of Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking, HTTP, TLS, CDN networks, and VPN technologies.
• Experience implementing secure, highly available distributed systems and debugging complex systems.
• Understanding of network performance monitoring and tuning, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Willingness to integrate AI tools and systems into the engineering workflow.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Professional systems-level Rust experience.
• Experience building tools and APIs.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, debugging large-scale distributed systems, or on-call rotations.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools professionally.
