Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: Fully remote for candidates based in Europe, including the UK, with a valid right to work; European time zone required. Optional work from the Vienna office and participation in office weeks three times per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core APIs and scalable backend services for the marketplace.
• Own production operations, monitoring, reliability, and performance of backend systems.
• Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
• Design and implement new features and services while defining engineering best practices and standards.
• Document solutions and collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.
• Mentor junior colleagues, onboard new joiners, and occasionally propagate backend changes to frontend applications.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in modern production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Go and a deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational database design.
• General frontend knowledge and the ability to perform basic tasks in frontend applications.
• Excellent English skills, European time zone availability, and residence in Europe, including the UK, with a valid right to work.
• Ownership, initiative, clear communication, collaboration, and willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies and practices.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
