What you will do

• Develop distributed aspects of the hirify.global database, including high availability, distributed consistency, horizontal scalability, and deployment flexibility.
• Build features end to end, from the core database to deployment and maintenance in the managed Aura service.
• Work across the database stack, including efficient I/O systems and distributed control planes.
• Investigate complex production bugs with support engineers and help SREs operate the database-as-a-service offering.
• Collaborate with product managers and other teams to design new features.

Requirements

• Experience using, administering, or developing distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently in a flexible software development organization.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate on complex technical topics.
• Willingness to learn modern, high-performance Java programming and Kubernetes operator development.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in London.

Nice to have

• Experience building stateful distributed systems such as databases, message brokers, or stream processing systems.
• Experience with distributed orchestration systems, especially Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Java, the Java ecosystem, or JVM internals.
• Experience working with large codebases.
