Thermal Engineer (Space)

Location: Bremen, Germany, with a flexible arrangement balancing remote and on-site work

What you will do

• Design and size thermal control systems, define thermal concepts and hardware requirements, and identify critical thermal areas.
• Develop, maintain, correlate, and assess thermal models and analyses at system and subsystem level.
• Plan, prepare, execute, and evaluate thermal tests in cooperation with AIT, including test specifications and ground support equipment.
• Provide thermal engineering support to systems engineering, product assurance, AIT, and spacecraft operations.
• Lead the thermal subsystem technically, including subcontractor management and support for project and subcontract management.
• Maintain thermal documentation and support reviews, technical studies, bids, and design change management.

Requirements

• University degree in aerospace engineering, thermodynamics, physics, or a comparable field.
• Extensive experience in thermal design and analysis of satellites and optical instruments, including thermal analysis tools.
• Experience defining, planning, and executing thermal tests and technically managing subcontractors.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, leadership, work-package, and resource-management skills.
• Results- and cost-oriented mindset with a strong drive for innovation.
• Willingness to participate in shift-based thermal test campaigns.
