AIT MGSE Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance is provided, including visa sponsorship where applicable.

What you will do

• Define and refine mechanical ground support equipment requirements and timelines with Engineering and AIT colleagues.
• Conceptualize and design MGSEs in CAD, including manufacturing drawings.
• Procure, commission, assemble, and implement MGSEs for spacecraft assembly and testing.
• Verify designs through mechanical analysis, hand calculations, and proof tests against external loads.
• Coordinate with suppliers on manufacturability, production follow-up, technical questions, and delivery timelines.
• Provide assembly and commissioning instructions and technical support.

Requirements

• Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree, or a similar qualification focused on machine or structural design.
• At least 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting using Siemens NX or a similar tool, plus FE analysis using HyperMesh or a similar tool.
• Knowledge of machine design, manufacturing processes such as machining and welding, design for manufacturing, and GD&T.
• Experience with margin calculations for beams, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications.
• Strong documentation, technical problem-solving, troubleshooting, and English communication skills.
• Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools.

Nice to have

• Experience designing test setups, jigs, or fixtures and planning or executing mechanical tests in-house.
• Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design.
• German communication skills.
