Maintenance Shop Technician A

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite maintenance and road service duties.

Pay range: $26.60–$36.57 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel trucks, vehicles, and equipment.
• Diagnose faults using electronic diagnostic tools and repair engines, chassis, suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating, and cooling systems.
• Service electrical, hydraulic, control, and air braking systems, including replacing fuses and related components.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotation, inspections, and checklist-based examinations.
• Carry out line-maintenance welding and fabrication and provide road service when required.
• Plan repair procedures using technical charts and manuals and test-drive vehicles to confirm safe operation.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in a technician role diagnosing and repairing gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment.
• Ability to inspect heavy trucks and automotive systems and knowledge of maintenance processes, tools, and common devices.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, braking, and other vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of maintenance for Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty trucks.
• Strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Nice to have

• Automotive Service Technician 310S or Truck and Coach 310T certification.
