Mid/Senior MSSQL Database Administrator (AI)

Location: Zagreb, Croatia; hybrid work arrangement

What you will do

• Maintain the stability, availability, and performance of production Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Improve monitoring and alerting to detect database risks before they become incidents.
• Investigate and resolve performance issues, deadlocks, replication problems, and other production incidents.
• Design and implement reliable database solutions, replication strategies, and migration plans with minimal downtime.
• Support database deployments and build automation to improve operational reliability and efficiency.
• Participate in stress testing and analyze database behavior under load to identify bottlenecks.

Requirements

• Mid- to senior-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and strong T-SQL development skills.
• Knowledge of relational database concepts, database design, and data modeling.
• Experience with query tuning, indexing, execution-plan analysis, and troubleshooting database performance.
• Understanding of application–database interactions, including connections, transactions, and production performance risks.
• Ability to manage migrations, deployments, and configuration changes precisely while taking ownership from planning through validation.
• Basic understanding of AI-assisted technologies and concepts, including prompting, Model Context Protocol, and AI skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server replication.
• Basic programming or scripting skills.
• Familiarity with Windows Failover Cluster and Always On Availability Groups.
