Java Software Architect (GCP)

What you will do

• Develop complex, cloud-based products, including an enterprise-grade document management system used by customers worldwide.
• Design, challenge, and improve backend architecture while staying hands-on with implementation and code reviews.
• Work extensively with Google Drive and solve integration challenges beyond its original design.
• Refactor the product core to support deployment outside Google Cloud Platform and scale it across public and private clouds.
• Optimize code and data structures and troubleshoot difficult issues in distributed production systems and third-party libraries.
• Collaborate with engineers and clients in Budapest and remote teams, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 7–8 years of Java development experience.
• Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Ability to make and clearly explain technical decisions, prototype efficiently, and solve complex problems systematically.
• Experience communicating directly with clients and guiding engineering teams through cloud adoption.
• Good communication skills in Hungarian and English are required.
• Experience using AI coding tools and directing AI-assisted development with specifications, architecture constraints, testing, CI, independent review, and attention to security, privacy, supply-chain, and cost risks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google App Engine, SQL, Python, or Terraform.
• Interest in or experience with Big Data.
• Experience managing customer relationships.
• Hands-on experience orchestrating AI agents through subagents, hooks, custom MCP servers, or similar workflows.
• French language skills.
