Maintenance Engineer (Food Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive breakdowns across production equipment and site utilities.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Support production teams with plant performance, operational issues, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, validation, and modification of equipment.
• Maintain accurate CMMS records and support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and EHS teams to maintain safety, food safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Proven engineering or maintenance experience in manufacturing; experience in food, pharmaceutical, or another regulated environment is preferred.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with electrical and/or mechanical systems.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems and maintenance best practices.
• Experience with pumps, valves, filtration systems, process equipment, or utilities is beneficial.
• Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Awareness of GMP, food safety, hygiene, and site safety requirements, with the ability to work independently and in a small team.

Nice to have

• Electrical qualification such as 18th Edition or equivalent.
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience with an electrical bias.
• Flexibility to support production needs, shutdowns, or callouts.
