Shift Engineer (Building Services)

Location: On-site in Canary Wharf, London, United Kingdom. Continental rotating shifts support 24/7 operations, including nights and weekends.

What you will do

• Monitor and maintain mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other building-service systems.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, inspections, and fault diagnosis.
• Respond to alarms and service requests and maintain accurate work records, logs, and work orders.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Liaise with supervisors and clients on technical issues and coordinate specialist contractors.
• Support reliable 24/7 facility operations and continuous improvement in building performance.

Requirements

• Technical experience with mechanical, electrical, and HVAC building services, preferably in critical environments or data centers.
• Ability to carry out preventive and reactive maintenance, basic repairs, and fault diagnosis using appropriate tools and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of safe systems of work, risk assessments, health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Relevant apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent technical qualification in electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering.
• Effective communication, teamwork, organization, documentation, and computerized maintenance management system skills.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and overtime when required.
