Senior Lab Equipment Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Manchester/Stockport; onsite role requiring full right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship. Monday to Friday, daytime schedule.

Salary: £45,000–£50,000 per year, plus a bonus of up to 6%.

What you will do

• Own preventative and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment to maximise uptime and maintain quality and safety compliance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues across electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Define requirements and support the integration of new laboratory and test equipment.
• Monitor performance data and deliver measurable improvements in reliability and efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and own root-cause analysis activities using 4C/8D methodologies through action closure and verification.
• Maintain safety documentation and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering, a related discipline, or significant experience in a similar role.
• Experience in service engineering, maintenance, or a test laboratory environment.
• Proven experience with equipment troubleshooting, system integration, and technical project delivery.
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and/or software systems.
• Experience with laboratory or test equipment, maintenance processes, and calibration requirements.
• Full UK right to work is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor, high-volume test, or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of characterisation, reliability testing, or surface mount standards.
• LabVIEW or Python programming skills, or PCB design experience.
