Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Wales, United Kingdom; onsite role in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment.

What you will do

• Own and manage site electrical infrastructure from 11 kV and 415 V systems through lower-voltage equipment and instrumentation.
• Lead maintenance strategies, reliability improvements, upgrades, modifications, and compliance for electrical and instrumentation assets.
• Provide technical leadership to Electrical and Instrument Technicians, contractors, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and SHE functions.
• Support maintenance and shutdown budgets, preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, work orders, and purchase orders.
• Manage small capital projects and contribute electrical and instrumentation expertise to larger projects through design, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Maintain safety-critical systems and ensure compliance with UK legislation, DSEAR, ATEX, site standards, and electrical safety requirements.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering with significant experience.
• Experience in engineering and maintenance roles within a related industrial or chemical processing environment.
• Expertise in industrial instrumentation, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance.
• Competence with electrical control equipment up to 11 kV, including transformers, switch rooms, MCCs, distribution networks, and variable-speed drives.
• Knowledge of ladder logic, first-line PLC maintenance, hazardous-area electrical equipment, and protection concepts.
• Experience with process safety management, including HAZOP/PHA, LOPA, SIL/SIS, DSEAR, and management of change.
