Multiskilled Maintenance Technician (Semiconductor)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; on-site at a semiconductor manufacturing facility

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 base salary, plus a 44% rotating shift allowance and an annual incentive plan of up to 6%.

What you will do

• Plan and perform preventive maintenance on high-tech wafer fabrication and diffusion processing equipment.
• Diagnose breakdowns, perform repairs, and complete root cause analysis to restore equipment efficiently.
• Assess how maintenance activities affect product output and yield.
• Use manufacturing execution systems to schedule preventive maintenance and update equipment histories.
• Manage maintenance spares stock, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
• Work with internal teams and external specialists to improve equipment performance and maintenance KPIs.

Requirements

• Completed mechanical, electrical, or multiskilled apprenticeship with at least ONC-level education, or equivalent engineering experience.
• Experience maintaining and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, vacuum, pneumatic, actuation, or similar equipment.
• Ability to work a rotating 4-days-on, 4-days-off shift pattern including days and nights.
• Adaptability, problem-solving, teamwork, deadline management, and workload organization skills.
• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, high-volume FMCG, light robotics, mechanical engineering, or armed forces equipment engineering.
• Motivation to learn specialist semiconductor equipment and progress through technical or management career paths.
