Senior Legal Counsel (Operations, Technology & Procurement)

What you will do

• Act as the primary legal adviser to Technology, Operations, Procurement, Data, AI and Transformation leaders.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements covering technology, software, SaaS, cloud, procurement, consultancy, licensing and support.
• Advise on technology transformation, artificial intelligence, data, digital business models and technology governance.
• Support outsourcing, operational resilience, critical suppliers and third-party risk management matters.
• Improve legal service delivery through templates, playbooks, self-service resources, legal technology and alternative delivery models.
• Manage external counsel, mentor colleagues and collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Information Security and Finance stakeholders.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or equivalent lawyer with significant post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience in commercial, technology and procurement matters, including complex contract drafting and negotiation.
• Strong understanding of technology contracting, SaaS, cloud services, outsourcing and supplier arrangements.
• Familiarity with AI, data, technology governance and digital transformation legal issues.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, technology or another highly regulated sector, including international and cross-border matters.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, organisation, commercial judgement and risk-management skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of insurance products and insurance regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with operational resilience, outsourcing, third-party risk, large-scale transformation or technology implementation programmes.
• Experience leading legal process improvement or legal technology initiatives.
