Senior Automation Engineer (Manufacturing Systems)

What you will do

• Own critical automation and digital manufacturing systems across the site.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and operational support for reliable, compliant manufacturing.
• Support and enhance Emerson DeltaV, MES, PLC/SCADA, historian, and OT infrastructure platforms.
• Design, configure, test, commission, validate, and implement system changes and upgrades.
• Lead investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, IT/OT, and external vendors while exploring Generative AI applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting manufacturing automation systems.
• Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and PLC/SCADA platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, or iFix.
• Experience with MES, historian platforms, system integrations, and highly automated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, GAMP, and Computer System Validation requirements.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Melbourne, Australia.

Nice to have

• Experience with Syncade MES, PI Historian, IT/OT networking, virtualization, Active Directory, or SQL.
• Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC, and industrial automation programming languages.
• Experience with serialization, track-and-trace, robotics, vision systems, batch management, FAT, SAT, CQV, or validation.
• Understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing, including fill-finish or drug product technologies.
