Commercial Credit Senior Associate (Fintech)

What you will do

• Underwrite new commercial credit requests and material modifications from deal screening through approval and throughout the life of each loan.
• Manage ongoing portfolio credit risk through annual reviews, interim updates, covenant monitoring, problem-loan management, and early-warning indicators.
• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, due diligence, credit bureau data, appraisals, industry research, and peer information.
• Prepare financial models, cash-flow analyses, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, guarantor analyses, and risk ratings.
• Partner with relationship managers and commercial credit analysts, attend client calls, and contribute to transaction structuring and credit committee discussions.
• Ensure compliance with commercial credit policies, regulatory standards, internal controls, audit requirements, and the company’s risk appetite.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant commercial credit or financial analysis experience; alternatively, 9 years of combined higher education and work experience including 5 relevant years.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, credit metrics, ratio analysis, trend analysis, and financial statement spreading.
• Ability to structure transactions, interpret and negotiate legal documentation, assess risks and mitigants, and recommend appropriate terms, conditions, controls, collateral, and guarantors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, accuracy, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, lead transaction execution with a Commercial Credit Analyst, and build relationships with customers and internal partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of the financial regulatory environment for commercial credit transactions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, or Bloomberg.
• Experience training junior or newly hired analysts.
