Underwriter IV - Commercial (Fintech)

Location: In-office role based in San Francisco, San Jose, or Walnut Creek, California

Base salary: $91,000–$202,800 per year, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Prepare offerings, scorecards, risk ratings, and recommendations for commercial credit transactions of varying complexity.
• Analyze credit quality, collateral strength, financial condition, risks, and mitigants for loan and transaction parties.
• Manage ongoing credit risk for assigned portfolios and make or support credit decisions.
• Gather information from internal and external customers and complete pre-approval and post-approval activities.
• Confirm regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Review and coach other underwriters, serve as a subject-matter expert, and lead special projects when assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of industry-relevant experience.
• Knowledge of commercial underwriting, credit analysis, financial analysis, risk assessment, and credit decision-making.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, exercise elevated approval authority, and coach other underwriters.
• Must work in-office in San Francisco, San Jose, or Walnut Creek, California.
