Manufacturing Project Engineer (Welding & Automation)

Location: Decatur, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Up to 20% domestic and international travel may be required. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year.

What you will do

• Lead global process commonality and standardization for Rigid Frame Truck heavy structures.
• Advise Product Engineering on manufacturability, Design for Manufacturability, APQP, process validation, and new product introduction readiness.
• Develop and optimize fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, material handling, inspection, and process-control methods.
• Lead capital investment and manufacturing improvement projects, managing scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholders.
• Evaluate and deploy robotic welding, automation, dimensional verification, manufacturing execution systems, offline programming, and digital work instructions.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, data analytics, and KPI management to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, throughput, and capacity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Welding Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Deep experience in large structural fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, quality systems, robotics, automation, CAD-supported design reviews, and NPI readiness.
• Experience leading complex global manufacturing and capital projects, including capacity planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and risk mitigation.
• Experience with manufacturing data analytics, digital engineering, manufacturing execution systems, and scalable manufacturing solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and automation teams across global organizations.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification or equivalent welding qualification.
• Experience with robotic welding, advanced automation, and manufacturing systems.
• Success developing and implementing global manufacturing standards in a multinational organization.
