Director, Commercial Legal (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid in Durham, North Carolina or Fremont, California, with onsite work three days per week; strong remote candidates may work from the United States. Periodic travel to the California Bay Area may be required.

Base pay: $225,000–$260,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Own large and complex commercial transactions from structuring through negotiation and execution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate enterprise customer, vendor, supplier, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution agreements.
• Advise on delivery, acceptance, performance standards, warranties, support models, liability allocation, and downstream obligations.
• Partner with sales, product, finance, operations, supply chain, and technical teams on strategic AI infrastructure deployments.
• Develop contract templates, playbooks, scalable contracting processes, and business training.
• Identify recurring risks, escalate regulatory and compliance issues, and support regulated or government-adjacent transactions.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 12+ years of relevant legal experience with substantial commercial contracting expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to independently negotiate complex customer and vendor agreements.
• Experience supporting technology, hardware, infrastructure, or supply chain-driven businesses.
• Strong business judgment, communication skills, autonomy, organization, and collaboration across legal and non-legal teams.
• Comfort operating in a remote, fast-paced, cross-functional environment and using AI tools in legal workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI infrastructure, data centers, memory systems, or advanced computing.
• Familiarity with export controls or regulated customer environments.
• In-house experience at a high-growth technology or infrastructure company.
• Prior law firm experience handling complex commercial transactions.
