Commercial Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; territories excluded. Remote team members must live and work in the United States and have reliable, high-speed internet.

Base compensation: $150,000–$185,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and service agreements.
• Own contract intake, workflow management, repository maintenance, renewal tracking, and obligation monitoring in LinkSquares.
• Advise Technology, Finance, Operations, and other internal stakeholders on legal risks and practical contract revisions.
• Manage legal collections for unpaid premium accounts and overdue invoices, including demand letters, outside counsel coordination, and disputed account resolution.
• Support corporate governance, regulatory compliance across the multi-state insurance holding company structure, corporate records, filings, and company policies.
• Handle subpoena responses and support additional legal matters and special projects.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant legal experience in-house or at a law firm advising companies on commercial matters.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar licensure in at least one U.S. state; California licensure is preferred.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, with familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools.
• At least 1 year of experience with collections, accounts receivable, or creditor rights matters.
• Strong communication, organization, judgment, independent decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; SharePoint familiarity is helpful.

Nice to have

• Experience with LinkSquares.
• Litigation experience, including court filings, discovery, and management of outside litigation counsel.
• California bar licensure.
