Director, AI Governance & Policy (AI)

Location: Boston, MA, United States. Hybrid-eligible with remote work allowed up to two days per week, or on-site five days per week with ad hoc flexibility.

Salary: $184,000–$276,000 base salary per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and annual equity awards.

What you will do

• Define and execute the enterprise AI Governance strategy and evolve the Responsible AI framework, policies, standards, and operating model.
• Lead AI intake, review, approval, monitoring, lifecycle management, risk assessment, and compliance evidence processes.
• Own the strategy, roadmap, implementation, and operation of the enterprise AI Governance platform.
• Establish governance for generative AI, AI agents, machine learning, knowledge graphs, and retrieval-augmented generation solutions.
• Partner with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Quality, Information Security, Data Governance, and Data & AI Product teams to embed governance by design.
• Lead the AI Policy Council and AI Review process while promoting AI literacy and Responsible AI adoption.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in AI governance, Responsible AI, risk management, and enterprise governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, large language models, AI agents, machine learning, knowledge graphs, and RAG architectures.
• Experience designing and operating enterprise AI governance programs, policies, operating models, and governance technology platforms.
• Knowledge of FDA, EMA, EU AI Act, HIPAA, GDPR, and GxP requirements, as well as data governance, privacy, security, and technology controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of experience in technology, governance, risk, compliance, data management, AI, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience leading enterprise governance, risk management, compliance, AI governance, or technology platform programs.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MBA, Master’s, JD, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience managing governance, risk, compliance, workflow, or policy management platforms.
• Professional certifications such as AIGP, CIPP, CRISC, CISM, or ISO 42001.
