Systems Engineer 5 - Network/Hardware (Hardware)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph are required.

Salary: $130,000–$270,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Maintain multiple machine rooms, a lab, and a communications room according to agency standards.
• Maintain access lists and monitor power, space, and cooling requirements.
• Coordinate with facilities personnel on power, space, and cooling upgrades for new hardware.
• Assist with the physical installation and decommissioning of server, network, and communications racks.
• Process JIRA tickets for hardware replacements and escort warranty service technicians.
• Monitor machine rooms, review alerts, inspect equipment areas, and resolve operational issues.

Requirements

• Current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• 15 years of systems engineering experience and an IAT Level II baseline certification under DoD 8570.01-M.
• Experience supporting agency machine rooms, racking and cabling operational systems, and creating machine-room drawings in Visio or a similar tool.
• Hands-on experience with HP, Dell, Cisco, Arista, Juniper, fiber testing, and troubleshooting, plus strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience managing or leading a machine-room or communications-room support team.
• Experience on a systems build or deployment team.
• Experience working in an agency or contractor lab.
