Front-End Developer / 508 Compliance Specialist

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; hybrid with up to 3 days per week of telework

Salary: $144,500–$195,500 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain front-end components and user interfaces compliant with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards.
• Perform manual and automated accessibility testing with JAWS and other assistive technologies.
• Remediate issues involving keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA, color contrast, and semantic HTML.
• Conduct accessibility audits, document findings, and produce compliance test reports.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, QA, DevOps, and product owners to build accessibility into the development lifecycle.
• Integrate automated accessibility checks such as axe-core, Pa11y, and Lighthouse into CI/CD pipelines and participate in Agile ceremonies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
• Top Secret SCI with Polygraph clearance required.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Front-end development experience with modern JavaScript frameworks; Vue is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2 Levels A/AA, ARIA authoring practices, semantic HTML, accessible forms, keyboard navigation, and focus management.
• Experience with JAWS, accessibility auditing tools, Git, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Experience producing VPATs or Accessibility Conformance Reports.
• Experience integrating automated accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Cypress or similar UI and accessibility automation tools.
• Familiarity with AWS and government agency reporting and dissemination policies.
