Expert Systems Engineer

Location: Remote – USA; primarily remote or office-based, with up to 20% travel and possible after-hours, on-call, and holiday support.

Salary range: $95,000–$101,230 USD annually.

What you will do

• Manage, monitor, maintain, and support infrastructure and application environments.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, databases, and applications.
• Partner with Operations on patches, updates, antivirus, maintenance, system health, capacity planning, and optimization.
• Identify recurring-issue root causes and implement preventive solutions; standardize and automate monitoring and processes through scripting.
• Own assigned projects, communicate progress and risks, participate in technical reviews, and drive technical initiatives to completion.
• Work with clients, cross-functional stakeholders, and executive-level audiences; maintain technical documentation and support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of relevant experience, including 2–3 years at a senior level or equivalent.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, Power BI, and Databricks.
• Experience supporting production infrastructure and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
• Strong understanding of systems, databases, applications, monitoring, and performance management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting technical information to technical and non-technical audiences and executives.
• Comfort working directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with scripting, automation, technical documentation, and change management.

Nice to have

• Healthcare technology or hospital IT experience.
• Development experience with .NET and REST APIs.
• Experience with AppDynamics, LogicMonitor, or other monitoring and observability platforms.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry.
• Cloud infrastructure or modern data platform experience.
• Relevant certifications such as GIAC, ITIL, or MCSE.
