Senior Controls/Automation Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, United States; a flexible arrangement of up to two remote days per week may be available for eligible work, but regular onsite attendance is required.

Salary: $142,800–$196,350 per year

What you will do

• Act as a technical expert for control, optimization, and calibration subsystems.
• Design, develop, and implement complex control and optimization algorithms for EUV source and semiconductor equipment.
• Define system requirements, specifications, architectures, roadmaps, and product development plans.
• Plan and execute laboratory, test-bench, and cleanroom testing, design verification, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Build tools for algorithm debugging, analysis, and performance evaluation, and investigate root causes of failures in manufacturing and fielded systems.
• Lead and mentor junior controls and algorithm engineers while coordinating projects and cross-functional design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or Physics; a Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience designing and implementing complex feedback control or optimization systems.
• Knowledge of modern control theory, optimization, stochastic processes, signal processing, estimation, system identification, and nonlinear control.
• Excellent knowledge of Matlab and Simulink; working knowledge of C, C++, and Python is desirable.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations before starting work.

Nice to have

• Specialization in advanced control systems or plasma physics.
• Graduate degree in a relevant engineering or physics discipline.
• Coursework in linear systems, feedback control, optimization, signal processing, estimation, system identification, and nonlinear systems.
