Maintenance Technician III (HVAC/R)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite maintenance role

What you will do

• Provide senior-level technical support within the maintenance department and maintain department assets for reliable equipment performance and quality standards.
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, refrigeration equipment, and BAS-controlled systems.
• Assist with root cause investigations, reliability-centered maintenance analysis, continuous improvement projects, and safety initiatives.
• Create or edit maintenance job plans and support cross-functional teams outside the maintenance organization.
• Train lower-level technicians on advanced maintenance tasks.
• Work a rotating 4-days-on/4-days-off shift from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 10+ years of experience, relevant certificate with 5+ years of experience, associate technical degree with 3+ years of experience, or proficiency in at least two skilled maintenance functions.
• Advanced knowledge of machine, diagnostic, and predictive maintenance tools.
• Experience setting up, using, repairing, and replacing I/O and BAS-controlled systems, including sensors, transducers, controller boards, actuators, valves, dampers, and switches.
• Working knowledge of HVAC/R validation and commissioning processes.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and work with 24 VAC, 120 VAC, and 460 VAC systems.
• EPA certification for refrigerant reclaiming equipment, a valid driver’s license, and intermediate MS Windows skills.

Nice to have

• CMRT certification or equivalent accreditation.
• Experience troubleshooting Beacon 2 smart controllers and Heatcraft IntelliGen systems.
