Core AI Platform Engineer - Assistant Vice President (Fintech)

Location: New York, New York, United States; hybrid schedule with office work Monday–Thursday and remote work on Friday

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year, plus equity and annual performance bonus

What you will do

• Design and deliver production AI systems covering document intelligence, knowledge systems, agentic orchestration, conversational AI, and generative AI.
• Own AI projects from problem scoping and stakeholder alignment through solution design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to API design, system decomposition, evaluation strategies, infrastructure patterns, and AI/ML platform engineering standards.
• Develop evaluation frameworks, benchmark datasets, performance metrics, and versioning practices for reproducible AI system improvement.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Legal, and Business stakeholders to identify opportunities, translate requirements, and communicate tradeoffs.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve team processes, tooling, infrastructure, and development velocity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing and deploying production AI/ML systems, including cloud-native solutions on AWS or similar platforms.
• Strong Python and software engineering skills, including source control, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and scalable software development.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, conversational AI, document intelligence, and agentic workflows.
• Experience designing and operating end-to-end machine learning pipelines covering training, deployment, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, experimentation, data quality, AI evaluation, benchmarking, error analysis, reliability, scalability, cost, and latency optimization.
• Experience with technical design, code and design reviews, mentoring, and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services or FinTech, especially in document-heavy, regulated, or compliance-sensitive environments.
• Open-source contributions, technical publications, conference presentations, patents, or other applied AI and machine learning thought leadership.
