Principal AI Software Engineer

Location: Remote in the USA, with attendance generally required from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. local time Tuesday through Thursday; remote work is available Mondays and Fridays.

Salary: $250,000–$300,000 base salary plus discretionary bonus

An in-house technology organization building real estate data, AI, and software solutions for commercial real estate and financial services.

What you will do

• Own complex AI and platform initiatives from design through production delivery.
• Design, build, and maintain agentic workflows for loan intake, document review, and servicing.
• Establish reusable platform patterns and capabilities and scale them across applications.
• Lead model selection and routing based on cost, latency, and quality.
• Build interfaces and capabilities including MCP tool servers, agent handoffs, subagents, long-running state, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
• Establish evaluation, reliability, observability, regression testing, and performance measurement practices while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience, including production systems delivered as a senior individual contributor.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience delivering production AI/ML systems, including LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
• Deep experience with Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, Pydantic AI, MCP, A2A, prompt and context engineering, RAG, embeddings, hybrid search, and reranking.
• Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, SQL databases, scalable architecture, and testing non-deterministic systems.
• Experience with model evaluation, observability, guardrails, Event Sourcing, and Domain-Driven Design.
