Principal Full Stack AI Engineer

Location: Boston, MA, United States. Hybrid schedule allows remote work up to two days per week, or an on-site schedule five days per week.

Salary: $166,640–$250,000 base salary per year, plus annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Build, extend, and operate an end-to-end agentic AI platform and production AI capabilities.
• Design integrations with enterprise systems, internal applications, third-party tools, and business services using MCP, A2A, APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
• Develop agents, tools, backend services, reusable connectors, SDKs, and middleware supporting orchestration, memory, retrieval, and action execution.
• Build data ingestion and retrieval pipelines for structured and unstructured enterprise content, including grounding workflows.
• Create lightweight interfaces, chat surfaces, and developer-facing experiences that embed agents into daily work.
• Implement authentication, authorization, observability, evaluation, monitoring, error handling, governance, and reliability practices for regulated enterprise environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Production software, AI/application engineering, or platform engineering experience.
• Full-stack development experience with Python and/or TypeScript across backend services, APIs, and frontend or developer-facing surfaces.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, tool calling, orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, prompting, and evaluation.
• Experience with enterprise API integrations, MCP or A2A, event-driven architectures, messaging, asynchronous processing, authentication, authorization, OAuth, OIDC, SSO, and token security.
• Ability to work in the Boston, MA area under the hybrid or on-site work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure AI Foundry, M365 Copilot, Microsoft AI technologies, or workflow orchestration platforms.
• Experience building reusable connectors or SDKs and integrating enterprise data, document, knowledge, and collaboration systems.
• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with platform governance, security reviews, technical documentation, observability, and evaluation of complex agentic workflows.
