TL;DR
Sr. Coordinator of Fitness (Group Fitness/Personal Training): Leading and operating group fitness and personal training programs at Montana State University with an accent on staff development, participant services, equipment operations, and safety management. Focus on supervising instructors and trainers, developing programs and revenue strategies, coordinating certifications, and building interdisciplinary wellness programming.

Location: hirify.global in Bozeman, Montana, United States. Monday–Friday schedule with occasional early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and on- and off-campus events.

Salary: $57,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

hirify.global’s Student Wellness area supports student and community health and wellbeing through Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Campus Recreation.

What you will do

  • Lead day-to-day operations for group fitness and personal training programs.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate instructors, personal trainers, student employees, graduate assistants, and part-time contractors.
  • Develop strategies for program growth, revenue generation, participant recruitment, and retention.
  • Coordinate certification courses, publicity, customer service, program assessment, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain fitness studio and floor equipment, supplies, safety, security, and risk-management systems.
  • Teach group fitness classes and provide personal training while collaborating on interdisciplinary health and wellness programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, recreation, health promotion, education, sports management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification, or the ability to obtain it within the required timeframe after hire.
  • NCCA-accredited fitness certification.
  • Strong leadership, management, organization, communication, conflict-resolution, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to teach varied fitness formats and serve clients with diverse needs.
  • This position is not eligible for new sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health promotion, higher education, sports management, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising and developing student staff.
  • Professional-level experience with fitness programming and development.
  • Professional involvement in organizations such as NIRSA, NASM, or ACE.
