News Nation DC News Gathering Field Producer

Location: Washington, DC bureau, United States; onsite. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Coordinate daily coverage of the federal government, including the White House and Congress, as well as regional and other general news.
• Research, report, and develop timely story and guest ideas from briefings, press conferences, events, and official statements.
• Organize field shoots, interviews, and live shots, managing planning and logistics for the field team.
• Build live hits, segments, and packages, including accurate broadcast scripts tailored to complex topics.
• Gather news elements from affiliates, agencies, and social media, while supporting digital newsgathering.
• Coordinate communication between the field team, show team, and assignment desk, and assist with editorial scheduling.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least 1–2 years of broadcast or digital production experience.
• Background in reporting, research, and writing.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice.
• Willingness to work in Washington, DC and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Understanding of social media and social newsgathering, plus ability to operate newsroom computer systems.
