Mechanical Engineer 3 (ASME Electrical Interface Components Design)

Location: United States; remote work is available within the contiguous United States for employees living more than 30 miles from a NuScale office. Employees within a 30-mile radius must work onsite four days per week. National and local travel may be required.

Salary: $108,908–$131,441 annually; full pay range $97,642–$152,722 annually.

What you will do

• Develop drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and scopes of work for NSSS mechanical components and electrical interface components.
• Design components including valves, control rod drive mechanisms, pressurizer heaters, electrical penetration assemblies, instrument penetration assemblies, and Passive Autocatalytic Recombiners.
• Establish mechanical, electrical, and process interface requirements with system and component design engineers.
• Provide technical oversight of vendor scopes, including proposal and deliverable reviews, meetings, and witness points.
• Support proof-of-concept and component qualification testing.
• Collaborate with Licensing on domestic and international regulatory efforts and resolve multidisciplinary technical issues.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.
• At least five years of relevant full-time professional experience.
• Working knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards, 10 CFR 50, and quality assurance requirements including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
• Knowledge or experience with IEEE 323, 344, 317, 383, 384, and 741 is highly desired.
• Experience with nuclear utility or plant design, NSSS component design, inspection, testing, and electrical interface components is highly desired.
• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience resolving complex multidisciplinary design issues.
